For those of you who know me, I’m all about vanilla iced coffee from Dunkin Donuts. I have to resist the urge to spend a bunch of money there all the time. I tend to wait for coupons on their Dunkin Donuts app to get the best deals. (Note: Save your receipts. You can get a free donut with a purchase of a medium or larger beverage if you fill out their customer survey!)
So you can imagine my excitement when I came across the opportunity to review THREE different kinds of Dunkin Donuts coffee flavors. Granted, they’re not my vanilla iced coffee, but they’re easy enough to make at home and it saves me money so win-win, right?
They sent me three different bags of coffee in the mail. I was expecting little sample size Keurig cups- these actually were decently sized bags! I would say they are enough for 5-10 cups of coffee each. So I was already impressed.
For each of these flavors, I decided I was going to try a swig of it black to get the base flavor (Side note: I usually dislike black coffee, but for the purpose of this review, I pushed past my disdain). Then I added skim milk and 1-2 Splendas.
The first flavor I wanted to try was Dulce de Leche, per my grandma’s recommendation. It was alright, definitely had a sweet taste but not sickening sweet. Tasted slightly like caramel. I put two Splendas in this one. (Spoiler alert: this is the flavor that ended up winning in their polls and the one they are going to put out for sale!)
The next one I tried was Blueberry Pancake. This is the one I was least excited for, to be honest. I mean, who thinks drinking something pancake flavored sounds appetizing?! Turns out, it ended up being REALLY good! No pancake taste at all! They could have called it blueberry donut or scone… something other than pancake. But oh well! I didn’t even mind taking the swig of it black because it had the blueberry taste then too! I did end up adding milk but this one only needed one Splenda to be just right.
The last one was Coconut Caramel. I was excited for this one because I enjoy both coconut and caramel. Turns out, this one left me slightly disappointed. It was drinkable, don’t get me wrong. But I did not taste any of the coconut, only the caramel. It also reminded me of the Dulce de Leche flavor I talked about earlier, so it didn’t excite me very much. Overall, it was alright.
My consensus after trying all three of these- I would’ve stuck with the blueberry pancake as the flavor to keep, even though it’s the one I least expected to like! I hope that Dunkin Donuts considers adding each of these flavors so that everyone gets the opportunity to try it.
Let me know what you think in the comments below- What flavors would you like to try? What flavors do you wish they’d come out with?
PS: I’m also looking to start up a weekly product review post where I’d talk about the various products I’ve used or consumed throughout the week. Help me come up with a catchy name and you’ll get a virtual hug 🙂
