Here you are… sitting in your cubicle, surrounded by piles of paperwork to sort and file. Staring blankly at data on your computer screen. Trying to not fall asleep as the daily hustle and bustle exhaust you.
You begin to daydream: imagining yourself onstage, in front of thousands of people, performing your dream role. Imagine singing at Carnegie Hall instead of singing to your steering wheel. Imagine being in a soundproof booth, recording the voice of one of your favorite TV show characters. Imagine hosting a huge awards show televised to millions of viewers. Imagine yourself on the cover of Vogue.
Have you been told these are impossible? Do they sound crazy? Would you need a miracle to achieve those goals since there’s NO WAY you can achieve them? They are all doable with hard work, passion, and determination.
Do you want to know why I got started in the entertainment industry? It’s my passion. Yeah, I know, that sounds totally fake and lame but it’s true. Some people get an adrenaline rush from riding motorcycles or jumping out of airplanes. Me? I get mine by being onstage in front of an audience of people anxiously awaiting my next move. (No pressure, right?!)
I remember being in high school, sitting at a lunch table surrounded by people I wanted to impress, talking about how I wanted to major in theatre in college. One kid decided to spew out something along the lines of “Have fun living in a box and being poor.” From that moment on, I decided to prove to people that I’m not destined for a life in a cubicle- even if that’s where the consistent money is. I’m willing to try my hardest to succeed in my chosen field.
I want to prove to everyone that it IS possible to pursue a career in your passions, no matter WHAT they are. I’m not going to lie- it requires a lot of hard work and dedication. You cannot give up if it’s what you really want. There are countless others trying to do the same thing as you… Why should YOU get it over them?
Throughout college (and after), I worked various part-time jobs to pay my bills and build up a work resume. These jobs would go well for a while, but then I’d need a change. I decided that I want to be in charge of MYSELF. I realized that the best kind of work for me is working from home and being my own boss. I run my business endeavors the way that I want to be treated as a customer.
Hi everyone! I’m Amanda LePore. 🙂
I’m a 24-year-old actress, model, VO artist, entertainer, entrepreneur, and blogger living in the Southern Maryland area (yeah, there is something below Washington DC! We have our own naval base and everything!)
**Side note: If you’re interested in checking out some of my other business endeavors, go to www.msamandalepore.com.**
I moved to Southern Maryland with my family in August 2006 from Long Island, NY. It was a major change for me but ended up being one of the best decisions for our family. We’ve had plenty of adventures over the years and I’m not planning on them stopping anytime soon!
I am in a long-term relationship with my amazing boyfriend, Dylan. We’ve been together about 4.5 years now and I’m so blessed to have someone extremely supportive and loving.
We are both college graduates from St. Mary’s College of Maryland (a beautiful honors college in St. Mary’s City, MD) where I received my Bachelor’s in Theatre with minors in English, dance, and film/media.
“As The Amanda Turns” (aptly named by my best friend Sarah) started as a place for teenage me to rant about the soap opera that is my life.
Now, as an adult in 2017, I’m using it as a way to help you, my lovely readers. “How can this blog help ME?,” you may be wondering. If you’ve ever had any interest in acting, modeling, voiceover work or any other aspect of the entertainment industry… this is the blog for you.
